Barriers to Learning in our School

Barriers for learning are identified for each child in our school, including our disadvantaged children.  Barriers to learning and individual data is used to identify the specific needs of each pupil.

Some of the common barriers are:

  • Low parental engagement/parenting skills.
  • Social and emotional issues resulting in low confidence and self-esteem.
  • Special educational needs and disabilities
  • Lack of resilience.
  • Language delay or difficulties.
  • Attendance

How is the funding used?

The key purpose of the Pupil Premium funding is to enable all pupils to reach their full potential. Each school may decide how best to use the funding to enable all its pupils to reach age related expectations and are held accountable for how it has been used to support those eligible. pupils from low income families. Children’s progress and attainment is tracked and monitored carefully to ensure they achieve their full potential.

Our Pupil Premium Champion are Mrs Rawes & Mrs Carpenter. Mrs Rawes and Mrs Carpenter are also our designated teacher for Looked After Children. Our Pupil Premium governor is Mr. C. Lacy.
