Friday 20th December
We have had a very busy term and it has been jam packed with lots of exciting learning and hard work, but this week has been a wonderful end to a very long term!
A big thank you to each and every one of you for your generous donations, support in sending in costumes and attending services and performances. We hope you have enjoyed the run up to Christmas. All that remains is to wish all friends and family a very merry Christmas and prosperous 2025.
We look forward to welcoming you all back on Tuesday 7th January.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
Today we have had a visit from the big man himself!
Our children were very excited to meet Santa. They told him what they wanted for Christmas, and have promised to tidy their bedrooms in anticipation of him visiting again next week. Maybe parents could help Santa by keeping an eye on the progress they are making!
A big thank you to the PTA for providing presents for Santa to give out today, and a big thank you to Santa for taking time out of his busy schdule to pop in and see us.
Oak Class
We are so proud of the children in Oak Class. They have shown fantastic resilience in what has been a very long term. It was great to welcome our grown ups into school to join in with crafts and making Christingles. The childrenespecially enjoyed seeing Mrs Bodle up on stage at the pantomime! Thank you so much for all your support. Wishing all our families a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Mrs Batty and Mrs Bodle.
Ash Class
This month has seen us focus on Advent and the Nativity in Ash Class. The children excelled themselves, retelling the birth of Jesus with song, dance and brilliantly learned lines! We hope you enjoyed the performances. Our learning about Advent, the Christian preparation for the arrival of Jesus, culminated in a special visit from Reverend Eleanor last week. She kindly answered all our questions about Christmas and was impressed by how much the children could recall and explain. The usual curriculum wheels have kept turning as we have also written letters to Julia Donaldson, completed our termly assessments with a super effort and made some lovely crafts to bring home for you to share.

Mrs Blades and Mrs Pears
Maple Class
Maple Class have enjoyed all things festive. From Christmas crafts with parents, to pantomime and party!
Willow Class
In Willow Class we have been getting in the festive mood by developing our sewing skills to make lined purses.
We have also been practising our sketching skills to produce images of St John the Baptist Church.
Birch Class
Birch Class have enjoyed lots of festive fun. They enjoyed partying with Willow Class, starting off with a sprout relay, followed by a Christmas film or Christmas songs and festive colouring alongside their snacks in the classrooms.
Pantomime
We had a fabulous time watching Jack and the Beanstalk at the Cast Theatre on Wednesday. Oh yes we did!
The children were fantastic ambassadors for our school and they thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The bus trip was just as exciting as the the pantomime!
The performance was everything it should be - and we were singing, laughing and shouting as loud as we could. The cast knew that the giant bugs were definately behind them!
Christmas Lunch
Christmas Dinner was delicious!
Turkey, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, stuffing and gravy followed by ice cream - yum! The children all looked very Christmassy in their Christmas jumpers and we had Christmas songs playing and crackers to pull and a lovely long playtime after!
A huge thank you to the kitchen team for again providing such a lovely lunch for us. I think they will have slept well on Tuesday night though!
Compliments
We are so proud of our school community and how the children conduct themselves whilst representing our school, here are a few comments from recent visitors. I think you will agree that they are all truly wonderful.
Midday supervisor - Thank you for inviting me to help with the panto today. I thoroughly enjoyed it and being a part of Miss Habbishaw's class, all your children were very well-behaved and polite. But to also see al the children of Pollington, their faces smiling and laughing, it was lovely to see they were enjoying it too.
Parent - 'It was lovely'. On visiting class for Christmas crafts.
Parent - 'What a great video. Thank you for arranging this afternoon. It was lovely'.
Parent - 'Thank you for giving us the opportunity to join in. We had lots of fun'
Communication with school and staff
Please be patient with us as building work commences in the school grounds, the visitor car park will have limited access as there will be a builders' compound located on this site.
Please remember to send your child with appropriate outerwear, coats, hat and gloves as the cold weather continues. As a school we are out learning and playing in all but the worst weather!
We continue to use Class Dojo as our main means of communication with you to share exciting news and updates. Pease note for all urgent messages for staff, the first point of contact is the school office. A polite reminder to parents of the code of conduct when on school site and to treat the school community with tolerance, respect. Thank you for helping to set a good example to children through speech, conduct and behaviour..

Help in Class - Thank you to everyone who has already completed DBS forms, once this is received please arrange to bring it into school and discuss you available times and we can get you into school.
