Are you passionate about supporting young learners and making a meaningful difference every day? Pollington-Balne CE VA Primary is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our committed team, working predominantly within EYFS and across the primary age range. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in a nurturing school community, supporting children's development and wellbeing.

About Pollington-Balne CE VA Primary

Pollington-Balne CE VA Primary is a Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School at the heart of a rural village, serving the communities of Pollington, Balne, Whitley, Eggborough, Fishlake, Doncaster, and Snaith. With a planned admission number of 140 and five mixed age classes, we provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where every child is valued. Our ethos is rooted in Christian values, fostering respect, compassion, and a strong sense of community among pupils, staff, and families.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the learning and wellbeing of pupils across the school, with an initial focus on Early Years Foundation Stage. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver high-quality interventions and provide individualised support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted interventions to help pupils achieve their academic and personal development goals, working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, supporting children with social communication and interaction needs, including those with SEND.
  • Act as a key worker for a small group of pupils, monitoring their wellbeing, progress, and engagement, and providing regular feedback to both pupils and staff.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of tailored support programmes, using Makaton where appropriate, to enhance communication and learning.
  • Promote positive behaviour and co-regulation strategies, encouraging acceptance and inclusion among all pupils.
  • Assist with smooth transitions throughout the school day and maintain effective communication with parents and carers.

The Person

We are looking for a caring and engaging individual who is committed to supporting children's learning and development. You will be a team player with a positive attitude and a genuine desire to make a difference.

We're Looking For:

  • A nurturing, patient, and passionate approach to working with children, with the ability to build positive relationships and inspire trust.
  • High expectations for all pupils and the initiative to support their individual needs, encouraging their acceptance and inclusion.
  • Experience of working with young people, ideally in an educational setting, and an understanding of how to promote positive pupil behaviour and co-regulation.
  • Empathy with our Christian values and a commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality at all times.
  • The ability to assist teaching staff with classroom transitions, provide constructive feedback to pupils, and liaise effectively with parents and carers.
  • Minimum qualifications: English and maths GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent, and a Teaching Assistant qualification at NVQ Level 2 (Level 3 and Emergency First Aid/Paediatric qualifications are desirable).

What We Offer

Pollington-Balne CE VA Primary is a caring school where every member of our community is valued and supported. We are committed to the professional development and wellbeing of our staff.

Benefits of Joining Our Team:

  • A supportive and inclusive school environment where your contribution is genuinely valued.
  • Access to high-quality training and continuing professional development to help you grow in your role.
  • The opportunity to work alongside a passionate and dedicated team, united by a shared commitment to educational excellence.
  • A chance to make a real impact on the lives of children within a close-knit rural community.
