Welcome to Ash Class
Year One and Two
Teacher: Mrs de Bethel
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Poskitt
Year One begins the children's journey into Key Stage One, so it's a very important year! We do lots of hands on leaning through our inspiring and creative curriculum.
Year Two marks the last year of KS1 and it is a very fun, exciting and busy year. Your child will learn lots new skills and take part in the many exciting opportunities.
Here are a few things you might like to know about our class:
- PE: Tuesday and Thursday
- Spelling homework: Friday (weekly)
- Additional homework: (Homework menu) fornightly
- Spelling test: Friday
- Reading: We encourage children to read as often as possible at home to an adult, as this will greatly support the development of their literacy skills. Children who read regularly at home make more rapid progress in all subjects. We have a “three times a week” reading challenge in our class to encourage reading at home with children who read five times a week getting additional dojo points.
What will the children need in school?
- Everyday each child should bring to school their book bag containing their reading record and reading book.
- A bottle filled with water for break times.
- Appropriate clothing for outdoor play.
We look forward to sharing our new and exciting news with you about all the fantastic things that happen in Ash Class.
