Birch Class

Welcome to Birch Class!

Here in Year 6 we have high expectations of ourselves and others.

Not only do we aspire to be the best we can be in all that we do but we also constantly challenge ourselves to achieve our full potential so we truly can enjoy and experience life in all its fullness.

We strive to be positive role models for both each other and our younger peers.

Throughout the year, our Wider Curriculum curriculum topics enable us to apply skills from our Core Subjects in a purposeful manner., proving opportunities for us to communicate our learning in different ways as well as to question, predict and intepret the views and opinions of others. Alongside this, our Jigsaw Curriculum for PSHE helps us to learn how to respond to different situations and how to manage our emotions efectively - particularly as we navigate changes in ourselves, the challenges of SATs and the transition to high school towards the end of the year.

In the Summer Term, we look forward to our rersidential visit - where we will join with the Y6 children from Cowick to build and develop resilience, team building and organisational skills as well as making new friends.

This year our usual PE days are on Wednesday and Thursday with Jak leading the Friday session.

Music during the Autumn ans Summer terms will be taken by Ms Lawrence from the East Riding Music Service, where we shall be building on our ukelele skills as well as enjoying Music for Well-Being.

Mrs Firth will be the main support in Birch Class throughout the week.
